VPN service refers to a network that provides remote organizations or roaming internet users’ access to a public internet network. The idea behind a VPN is to provide privacy as you roam through a public network. However, there are more advantages of using a virtual private network service.

An iPad VPN Protects Your Identity

Protection of your IP address is crucial especially when accessing a public network where your information can easily be hacked into. A VPN for an iPad will hide the data you browse from your ISP server and will protect your browsing history from being monitored. By utilizing a VPN server, it is impossible for your ISP to carry out a deep packet inspection on data sent through your Laptop or PC.

A iPad VPN will hide the data you browse from your ISP server and will protect your identity

An iPad VPN Protects Your Location

protect your location information with an iPad VPN

A major use of a VPN server is to access websites offered only to specific countries but restricted in your country. A Virtual Private Network account will prevent foreign ISPs from using your IP address to locate your geographical position and restrict you from their services. Your personal VPN for iPad will replace your normal IP address; other websites will only recognize the VPN server but not your true identity. As an internet user your identity and location are kept confidential from internet marketers or search engines.

Select a Premium iPad VPN Service

There are two ways you can open a VPN account; by paying or utilizing a free service offer. Free Virtual Private Network services offer unreliable connections and slow connection speeds. Generally they rely on third parties and don’t offer essential security options like OpenVPN, PPTP or L2TP/IPsec.

Ability to Access Restricted Websites

You’ve probably encountered websites where you are met with a huge notification ‘The website is restricted in your area’. To bypass location based IP blocking, a VPN replaces your IP address with one not linked to your physical location.

Protect Yourself From Third Party Intrusion

Using a iPad VPN service to protect Yourself From Third Party Intrusion

VPN service protects your online activities from being monitored by a third party. It is the ultimate protection from website blocks, online censorship or corporate firewalls. With a VPN account, you can browse any website without the Government or your employer spying on your activities.
A Premium VPN provider is the right solution for preventing online spying, IP identification or website censorship. VPNs are easy to install and offer multiple protocol options to secure home computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

With nearly 1,000,000 mobile apps in circulation, it’s no wonder this technological innovation has grabbed the attention of leaders in the business world. It seems there is an app for everything, so why not your brand? Many brands who have not yet entered the app arena are asking themselves that very question.

Mobile Apps

However, mobile apps are not appropriate for every business or brand. As with any other marketing tool, businesses need to do their research and weigh its benefits against the cost, both in terms of time and money. They must also determine a way to measure the impact of this tool and determine if it’s the best marketing strategy for them.

You Must have a Strategy

Here’s how you can take advantage of the marketing benefits of mobile apps:

Clear Goals

Before making use of mobile apps be clear on your objectives

Before you embark on building and utilizing mobile apps, you must first be very clear on your objectives, time frame and intended strategy. This type of clarity will allow you to save the time and resources of your company. It will also ensure the best possible results and hopefully a successful marketing campaign.

Simplicity

In this busy, overwhelmed society, it’s more important than ever to keep your app simple and user-friendly. People don’t want to have to put too much time and effort in learning to use your app. It needs to quickly get to a point where it is fully functional for them to use. Whether you’re building an app for your fulfillment company or fashion boutique, know what you intend your app to do and make it as simple as possible.

Differentiation

How can you differentiate your app from the 1000s already on the market?

How can you differentiate your app from the hundreds of thousands of other apps in the marketplace? Can you make your app better, more attractive, more fun or more appealing to mobile users in some other way?

In a crowded field of similar mobile apps, it’s very important to stand out and be attractive to potential users. Often that is done by offering your app as a free download. Other times, it’s done by putting a different spin or different style on your app than the rest of your competitors.

Usefulness

How can you be of use to your mobile app users? It’s not good enough simply to be attractive and interesting; you must provide some sort of tangible usefulness in order to be successful in the mobile app world. There are many ways to be of use however.

Offering interesting information, give directions or instructions, be entertaining, make life easier or help people reach their goals. These are just a few of the ways that users may be able to utilize your application.

Mobile apps can be a very effective marketing tool to build a customer fan base, generate customer loyalty, build interest and spread your brand message. Be cautious, however, in jumping into the mobile app scene too quickly without first examining what you hope to accomplish and how you intend to accomplish it. Lastly make sure you can clearly measure your results against the resources you have invested.

Now that you’re well versed in what you need to think about in a mobile app, whether you’re a fulfillment company or clothing store, you’d probably like to learn more how to effectively market your app. Guest post written by James.

We’re all familiar with the old mobile monstrosities of the late 80s. They were often likened to bricks due to their size, a nickname which does a dis-service to generations of brick makers the world over. The ubiquitous mobile phone, no longer the slightly ridiculous sole-preserve of yesteryear’s City bankers, has undergone a dramatic evolution in the last decade or so.

Mobile Phone Evolution

Mobile phones are no longer just a convenient communication device – they’re an accessory, and a necessity.

But how did this happen? How did something with only marginally more portability and attractiveness than a breeze-block become a multi-billion dollar industry, with some of technology’s most prestigious names squabbling over patents and vying for consumer attention?

Advances

In the 90s, advances in manufacturing and printed circuit technology meant that handsets had become smaller and more practical. They were now pocket-sized, discreet and far more portable than their 80s predecessors. But this all went largely un-noticed by the ordinary consumer as mobile contracts were expensive and relied on a good credit rating. The mobile phone was still an exclusive item for the wealthy or the corporate traveller.

Advances in manufacturing and technology has meant that mobile phones have slowly been reduced insize, so that they now fit in the pocket

In the second half of the 1990s the operators, recognising the potential to expand their customer base, developed the first prepaid mobile services. This allowed ordinary consumers to pay for just a handset and a SIM Card, which could be “topped up” with call credit eliminating the need for credit checks, a monthly bill and lengthy contracts.

They were popular, but still expensive with even the budget range costing around £99 for a handset and £25 for a top up. Call charges were higher too with peak time calls as high as 60p per minute. It was no longer an exclusive item, but by the first half of 1999 the mobile phone was still a luxury.

Price War

In August 1999 a supermarket price war broke out between Asda Sainsbury's and Tesco over pay as you go mobile phones

And then the supermarkets weighed in and changed the mobile phone market forever. In August 1999 a pre-paid mobile price war erupted between Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda. The immense buying power of the supermarkets allowed them to knock their prices down to more affordable levels. Tesco’s basic pre-paid package was just £49.99. Asda responded by lowering theirs to just £39.99 and the luxury item became an affordable must-have.

Of course, all these awesome new phones were still pre-3G dumbphones. Smartphones back then were powered by Windows Mobile software created for PDAs, and were process-hungry beasts when you connected them to your PC.

It wasn’t until 2003, when Hutchinson launched the UK’s first 3G service, that mobile evolution really took a leap forward. Image files, polyphonic ringtones, and short video clips (<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrbeck/2715565881/"target="_blank">remember this guy?) created specifically for mobiles became an industry in themselves.

Pocket Computers

Thanks to the origional iPhone in 2007 the modern day smart mobile phone has taken its place in society

Just a few years later, in 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone to the world. Combining the popular iPod music player with a phone, PDA functionality and internet capabilities, the iPhone shook the mobile market to its core and smartphones became the consumer device of choice.

Early competition came in the form of Symbian based phones such as Nokia’s N95, and Blackberry suddenly found itself with a consumer market share as their devices became popular outside of the business sphere. Then, in 2008, Google launched their Android mobile operating system on the T-Mobile G1, built by HTC, and the rest is smartphone history.

By mid-2012 we’re on to the 5th itereation of the iPhone (the 4S), Android is up to version 4.0.4 at the time of writing and a re-vamped Windows Mobile is rocking the boat in ways nobody really expected.

The term “mobile phone” is probably inappropriate these days; calling them “pocket computers” would be more accurate. We use our smartphones these days for email, web browsing, organising our calendars, playing games. Mobile versions of chat and IM clients even let us swap photos and videos, such as with Skype’s file sharing function.

It’s amazing to see how far these devices have come in the little under 30 years they’ve been commercially available. As technology advances, it’s an exciting prospect to imagine where they might be in another 30 years.

If you’ve ever tried to browse the Education section of Apple’s App Store, you know that it can sometimes be overwhelming! With so many apps available, how do you choose the right one? After all, you have limited space and most likely a limited budget. Who wants to spend their hard-earned cash on a mediocre app?

Educational Apps for iPhone

If you’re looking for the best educational apps for the iPhone, you’ve come to the right place! All of the apps included are either free or relatively inexpensive. Without further due, here are the top 5 education apps for the iPhone (in no particular order):

3D Brain

3D brain is one of many educational apps for iPhone

This app is simply amazing. For students who are learning about the brain, this app is a must! You can view the brain in 3D from all sorts of cool angles. There’s a very nifty feature that labels all the different parts of the brain so you know EXACTLY what you’re looking at! Even better, you can click “text” and read what that particular part does.

3D Brain Explained

Mathemagics

Mathemagics is possibly one of the best educational apps for iPhone

I cannot think of a better app for young math students than Mathemagics. Mathemagics has actual lessons on divisibility, perfect squares, and multiplication. The best part? Each lesson comes with an accompanying quiz. Perfect for learning math on the go!

Mind Snacks Spanish

As educational apps go Mind snacks Spanish is awesome!

Esta aplicacion es impresionante! Translation: This app is awesome! If you want to learn some basic Spanish while on the move, this app wont disappoint! Users choose their skill level and based on their answer, Mind Snacks Spanish will choose a lesson. In order to complete the lesson, you must beat the mini-game that tests your knowledge on that particular topic. The mini-games are very fun and addicting! You’ll have so much fun playing you won’t even notice you’re learning!

US History Timeline

US History Timeline is the best of any US history educational apps

For history buffs, this is an essential app! US History Timeline lists and describes all the major events that have occurred in the United States. Everything from before the colonization all the way to the present is included. Users can select an event like “Cold War” and see a list of all the important events that has occurred for that time period. Press the arrow to learn more about an event.

Flashcards Plus

Flashcards Plus is a fantastic educational apps for the iPhone

Flashcards Plus is a fantastic flashcard app for the iPhone. It’s just like the real thing except it’s on your iPhone! Many students prefer digital flashcards because they can literally bring them anywhere, presuming they carry their phone with them. This is a great way of encouraging students to study on the subway or the bus. Instead of playing Doodle Jump, perhaps they can look over their work instead!

As you can see, there are a bunch of educational apps for the iPhone that are very helpful. As a teacher who offers tutoring in manhattan, I always encourage my students to use their smart devices to learn. The iPhone can be a great learning tool if used properly.

With the rise of the smartphone over the past few years, security has become more of a concern for mobile phone providers. Back in the day of the monochrome Nokia ‘brick’ phones, the operating systems which they ran on were very primitive and there wasn’t a great deal of scope for viruses. Back then we used our mobiles to phone and text, there was no Internet, no mobile data, no Email and no updating your Facebook status. Most hackers had little interest in attempting to exploit phones back then since there was very little valuable information they could obtain.

Smartphone Security

Smartphone security is still overlooked by users, manufacturers and developers

Obviously this has all changed, nowadays we use our mobile phone to do everything we would do on our computer, including transferring very sensitive data (usernames, passwords & bank account details just to name a few.) Interestingly though, there is not much emphasis put on antivirus protection for mobile phones, whilst at the same time statistics show that the number of mobile based viruses and malware are on the rise. Vendors often don’t include any antivirus protection on their phones and very little information is given to purchasers in regards to best practices for keeping their phones virus free.

The motives behind smartphone viruses

Since we use our phones for so much, virus creators have many reasons to target them and infect them with malware. Compromising email accounts, Facebook accounts (which can then be used for spamming) and intercepting logon attempts for online banking, EBay & PayPal are just a few examples of why a virus creator would want to target a mobile phone. Since protection isn’t as robust and often the mobile phones won’t have antivirus software installed, they can be seen as ‘easy pickings’ for the virus writers. Sites such as <a href="http://www.removingmalware.org/google-redirect-virus-removal-guaranteed" target=_blank">RemovingMalware.org offer malware removal guides but removing malware on a mobile phone is a slightly different (and more taxing) experience than it would be a regular Windows computer.

Antivirus software for smartphones

Your Personal data is becoming more of a target for unscrupulous smartphone virus developers

Vendors are now looking at developing antivirus software for mobile phones and there is certainly an opening in the market for it. Kaspersky are a good example of this (<a href="http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/kaspersky_mobile_security" target=_blank">check their mobile security product here). The biggest problem for vendors right now is convincing the end users that their phones require protection. Whilst virus attacks on mobiles are not unheard of, they are certainly less common than those that happen on regular computers. Over the next few years, it is likely that this is going to change as we gradually become more and more reliant on our smartphones.

Virus distribution on smartphones

With Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & other short range communications protocols being common on mobiles, virus creators are taking advantage of them and looking for exploits that can enable them to spread their viruses to other phones within the area. This type of virus spreading is much like what a ‘worm’ does and is enabling hackers to distribute their viruses a lot easier than they were able to do several years ago.

So – you’ve just purchased a shiny new iPad, PlayBook or Android tablet, have you? Tablets open up a whole new world of technology and can be incredibly entertaining and useful machines for all sorts of circumstances. Let’s take a quick look at three tips to help extract the most fun and enjoyment from that new tablet.

There’s Always an App for That

No matter what you use your iPad or Android tablet for, there’s will be an app that will be useful

No matter what you want to use your iPad or Android tablet for, there’s a high probability that someone has created an app for that specific purpose. Spend some time browsing through the various categories of apps that are available for your tablet and be sure to try out any that catch your eye. Whether it’s using your tablet as a fitness tracker or to determine exactly where certain constellations of stars will be appearing in the night sky, there is an app for nearly every interest and conceivable task.

Keyboards and Other Accessories can Really Help

There are many accessories for the modern tablet like keyboards and the styluses

While most individuals usually have one or two specific purposes in mind when buying a tablet, such as watching movies while traveling or playing games, they quickly discover that their new tablet is capable of much more. If you find yourself constantly writing emails on your tablet, consider buying an inexpensive keyboard that can save you the strain of typing on a touchscreen for long periods of time. Conversely, if you find that you are drawing on your tablet with your fingers on a regular basis, take a look at a stylus that can make drawing on glass far easier. There is a massive market for tablet accessories for a reason: cases, stands, keyboards and other accessories can greatly improve your tablet experience.

Remember your ‘Tablet Ergonomics’

Since the first iPad came on to the market, users started noticing that their neck and eyes were subject to strain after long periods of tablet use. Tablets are no different than computers in this regard, and proper ergonomic practices can end up saving pain and discomfort over the long term. Take regular breaks, stretch and be sure to have the room adequately lit when using your tablet. Your body will thank you for it!

There are limitless uses for tablets like the iPad with more apps and accessories being created on a regular basis. Tablets truly look to be the future of computing, so if you haven’t taken the opportunity to play around with one get out there and try one out today!

It is thought that by 2015, there will be almost 1 billion smartphones in the world -a huge amount! Only a few years ago, this type of mobile phone didn’t exist at all and yet they are now one of the most popular gadgets worldwide. The UK is no exception. In August 2011, it was estimated that around half of all teenagers and about a quarter of adults had a smartphone -and when you consider that other statistics suggest that since that measurement was taken, a whopping 52% of UK mobile users now have a smartphone, it’s easy to see that this is a huge growth industry.

Addictive as well as Popular

Many people are said to be addicted to using their smartphones

Many people also report being addicted to their smartphones, and mobile internet use is growing rapidly. It is thought that the number of people doing web searches on their smartphone is doubling roughly once every two months, and more and more people are using their phones to make purchases. Arguably, a big event came in the world of smartphones and mobile internet when search giant Google started designing its websites for mobiles first in 2010, with other types of internet-connected device starting to take something of a backseat.

Also, recently the sales of smartphones in the UK have outstripped the sales of PCs, two years earlier than they were predicted to do so -so the market for these phones isn’t just growing, it’s accelerating much faster than anyone previously thought they were going to do. Eventually, it’s thought that smartphones will be outselling PCs by 3 to 1.

Mother’s Day Mobiles

In the run up to Mother’s Day in 2012, it is thought that 50% of sales were made over smartphones

Here’s another significant statistic to show just how fast smartphones are growing in the United Kingdom. Over Mother’s Day in 2012, it is thought that a significant 50% of sales were made over smartphones. This, and other statistics like it, has led to companies starting to pay much more attention to their mobile marketing and means they are now making sure their mobile sites are just as functional as PC websites.

But it isn’t just the internet that has made smartphones so popular over the past few years, although this has undoubtedly had a huge influence. The other capabilities of phones have been improving too, from the range of apps and games available to the reliability of phone coverage. Big gains have been made, and it seems that phone users have really been picking up on this. It seems safe to say that smartphones are not just a trend -they’re the new normal, and they’re set to stay popular for a long while yet.

Pagers have been in use around the world for decades. The first pagers were used by New York’s doctors in 1950. Their use spread slowly throughout the world and demand for them continued to grow until affordable mobile phones became available in the 1990s. Before demand began to decline the use of pagers had spread from professionals to members of the general public, with many teenagers using them to stay in touch with and meet up with their friends.

Demand for Modern Pagers Grows Again

Demand for modern pagers is again growing with the main markets being the emergency services and business. Mobile phone coverage is still not perfect in most parts of the world, and it is not 100% reliable. During a disaster or special events mobile phone coverage becomes erratic as the system is overwhelmed. Most members of the public can cope with this, but not all businesses can.

Demand for modern pagers is again growing with the main markets being the emergency services and business

Members of the emergency services need to know what is going on and where they are needed next at all times. Transport businesses need to update thousands of drivers of accidents and other incidents within seconds at any time of the day or night. Stocks and shares traders cannot afford to not to be able to communicate even for a few minutes.

Many hospitals still use pagers

Many hospitals still use pagers to contact key staff reliably

Mobile phone coverage is also patchy and unreliable in many large buildings making the use of pagers essential. Many hospitals still use pagers to contact key staff reliably. Plus this means that personal mobile phones can be banned to ensure that everyone is 100% focused on patient care. Other large companies that operate out of large buildings do the same.

In remote parts of the world where mobile phone coverage is patchy the use of pagers has never really decreased. Much of the new technology used in modern pagers has been developed and tested in these remote parts of the world.

The dependability of the pager networks and the advancements in technologies surrounding the pager system including the improvement of two way paging services allowing using to fundamentally communicate via pagers. Included with the ease with which you can simply submit the same message to either a single person or thousands of people within a group in a matter of seconds is what is making pagers popular again.

Having the reliability of a paging service is becoming a company standard in contemporary business models, as they are low cost effective ways to keep in contact in disruptive times or in the case of disasters.
