Hows does the use of this patented technoligy effect Nokia, has it benefited Apple to use it?

Just been reading about this:

Looks like Nokia are going after a cut of every iPhone sold which could amount to a fair sum given that it's likely to be another 2 years before any settlement is reached?
One coment suggested that Nokia were playing a dangerous game as if the case goes against them then their own patents could be invalidated.
I was surprised to read this:
"Nokia holds 10,000 patents related to European and global mobile phone technologies"
I didn't think phones were that complicated?
Anyway, we'll see what happens - nice to know it's not just us small fish who like to fight each other. :)

I doubt Nokia would even go down this route if it haddent been advised its patents where rock solid. I suppose if Apple has infringed Nokia's patents and gets away with it, it could make all patents vunerable.
