Challenge #projectupgrade to Upgrade more than Just your Smartphone!

Challenge #ProjectUpgrade to Upgrade more than Just your Smartphone!

Upgrading your smartphone can be a long-winded and expensive task, and even after counting down the days until the end of your contract when the time to get a new model finally comes – it can become a bit of a chore. With so many different handsets to choose from it’s hard to know which one is going to be the best for you.

To Upgrade or Not: That is the Question!

That said, there’s something for everyone these days, even for the weird and wonderful out there who really want to stand out from the crowd.

Here we take a look at some of the strangest mobile gadgetry and accessories that may have passed you by over the last few years…

Astonishing Accessories

For those who can’t afford the latest mobile contracts the next best alternative is to give your handset a much needed makeover. There are thousands of different accessories up for grabs to transform your device into something really unique.

Upgrade or makeover the choice is yours

With everything from diamond encrusted phone covers, SmartPants – yes, that’s underwear to cover your mobile’s modesty – to the massive Aura sensing phone charm that changes colour depending on your mood, you really are spoilt for choice.

So, if you’re looking to make your mobile more attractive then these are just a couple of attention-grabbing ways that are available to freshen up your old blower.

Mobile madness

Over the past few years more and more manufacturers have started building handsets for users who don’t mind splashing out on their mobile upgrade.

Vertu was one of the key brands to kick things off, creating several premium handsets including the Signature Cobra, a diamond coated device priced at £167,567.

Upgrade to the Sugar Phone

Just recently the Android Sugar phone was announced. With 129 5.16 carat Swaroski Pure Brilliance gems covering the sides, the Sugar weighs in at 156g. No price has yet been confirmed but we imagine it’s going to set you back a few bob.

BlackBerry recently announced it is once again teaming up with Porsche to create a premium handset inspired by the firm’s flagship, the BlackBerry Z10. Starting at around $2,000 it will feature a textured leather back and aluminium front panel.

But, in reality how many people are going to be able to afford one of these?

Sticking with it

In fact, the number of people upgrading their handsets for new hardware is starting to decline, and it’s a trend that’s expected to continue as smartphone sales reach their peak.

Mobile technology is becoming more advanced, but manufacturers are starting to struggle to innovate at the same rate as mobile life cycles, which are constantly getting shorter. When it comes down to specs there’s little difference between many of the high-end handsets currently on the market, and for this reason alone consumers feel less compelled to get their hands on the latest and greatest smartphones.

Judging by the healthy crop of smartphones that have hit the shelves this year alone, many mainstream buyers will no doubt see little need to trade in their device for a newer model, after only a few months down the line.
