The much anticipated market launch of the Nokia Lumia 620, which was originally planned for late December 2012, was inexplicably delayed; however, the mid-range Lumia 620 started shipping out from some online smartphone retailers at the end of January – exciting news! for those who’ve had their eye on this affordable, attractive and functional model.
Anticipation of the Lumia 620
Nokia’s perhaps too ambitious announcement of a December launch date for the Lumia 620 has not damaged the public’s desire for, or anticipation of, the new smartphone. There was still plenty of hype surrounding its January 28th market availability date, despite the short delay.
Lumia 620 Purchase Price and Windows Phone 8 OS
The Nokia Lumia 620, which boasts the Windows Phone 8 OS, has a number of other features that make it very attractive to users, not the least of which is its affordable purchase price of around £149.99 on pay as you go.
By no means is the Lumia 620 a top of the line smartphone, but for many, that’s precisely the appeal. Not only is the model an affordable one, it includes a number of mid-range features that satisfy basic user expectations these days from a middle-of-the-road smartphone. These include an 800/480 pixel touchscreen, measuring 3.8 inches, and a 1 GHz dual-core processor, with 512 MB of RAM and the ability to handle up to 8 GB, for users interested in customization.
It should come as no surprise that the Lumia 620’s core market is likely to be younger. All one needs to do is look at the affordability of the model in addition to its flashier colored, interchangeable skins, and tween, teen and early twenty-somethings quickly stand out as the market Nokia’s targeting with this new mid-range model.
Other features that also make the model attractive to the younger crowd include its WiFi and NFC connectivity, as well as its 5 MP camera and 3G and microSD compatibility. And the highly colorful, interchangeable skins are only touching the surface. In fact, the Nokia Lumia 620 is actually made to accept a dual layer skin that makes it more durable in addition to giving it a more unique, mutable and richly deep appearance.

Giving the Competition a Run for its Money?
The Lumia 620 has been the topic of many reviews and online discussions in the past couple of months. The approaching market launch date only has the model assuming a more front and center position of prominence in such discussions. The flashy, mid-range smartphone is certain to give the competition a run for its money. And biggest competitor with whom it will face off during the first half of 2013 is the Huawei Ascend W1, after having just recently been unveiled in Las Vegas at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show.
