The Samsung Galaxy S3 – preorder to avoid disappointment

The Samsung Galaxy S3 – preorder to avoid disappointment

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is perhaps the most anticipated piece of consumer electronics since the last Apple launch. It has a hundred different things that make it truly exciting, and the launch of the product in early May (without the actual product going on sale) was a hype machine fit to burst. With Samsung talking up it’s intuitive feel (in a direct dig at Apple) and a host of features generally designed to make it one of the hottest phones of the year, we thought we’d take a closer look at the handset that is primed to become the fastest seller for a long while.

We thought we’d talk features first. While we don’t often get excited about a phone, this one pretty much takes the biscuit and fully deserves the phrase ‘feature rich’. Your first real biggie is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has true on-screen multitasking. In layman’s terms, this means that you can do something like watch a video on the screen, while at the same time read a web page in another part of the screen. This has been around on TVs for some years now, but the smartphone market has been nowhere near it. We think it is a game changer.

Then you’re looking at a 4.8-inch screen. This really enhances the experience, especially when you’re looking at web pages that need to be read from top to bottom. A real benefit for anyone who enjoys his or her games too. Put this alongside the fact that you have a screaming giant of a quad core processor at the heart of the Samsung Galaxy S3, and you have fast web surfing with no interference or lagging.

Want more cutting edge stuff? Try the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen actually tracks your eye movement, so you can use the phone in a completely revolutionary way. The concept here is very simple. Your phone will stay on as long as you are looking at it, and then turn off when you look away. This science fiction type enhancement is right up there with the multitasking from earlier. It’s just cool, and we think that it pushes the envelope even further when it comes to handsets that push for intuitive interaction. Apple may be still pushing Suri as the big game changer, but we are in love with the fact that this phone allows you to literally ‘close’ the display off just by using your eyes.

Ice Cream Sandwich

On top of all that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has Ice Cream sandwich in the background, running everything and ensuring you get the latest apps to help you enjoy the experience. This is the latest and the best Android OS, and sits perfectly on what we think is the latest and the best (or at least the most exciting) new phone out there.

Which leads us to the availability. You need to preorder now if you want one. People are chomping at the bit; so getting your name down for one is very much the only way you’re going to get your hands on one. We say go for it, because until the next Apple launch, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the phone to get.
