With what is quite possibly one of the most eagerly anticipated launches in the year’s smartphone calendar, Samsung have announced that they are going to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S3 on May 3rd. That’s TODAY! this is exciting on a host of levels, not least because there have been multiple online teaser videos (the majority of which were supplied by Samsung) to whet the appetite of the serious smartphone user.

The S2 was a bit of a breakthrough. With a huge screen, super slim design and a display to die for, it became one of Samsung’s biggest sellers, even with its hefty price tag. We have to make one thing very clear here. There is nothing out there at the moment but rumour anout the Samsung Galaxy S3. Some of these rumours are very well documented online, and some are approaching fact, but whatever we tell you here and now, just remember that Samsung are the only people who will give us the truth.

Samsung Galxy S3 Rumours

So, on with the rumours. The first is that it will house a 12MP camera. This sounds ultra cool, but it may not deliver the dream that people are hoping for. Some good news comes with the sensor, which clocks in at 1/2.3 inch, meaning possibly better quality in lower light. So this makes for a good camera, just not yet a world-beater. And the rumours say don’t hold your breath when it comes to having zoom.

The most exciting rumour is that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will have an even bigger screen than the S2. This may seem like a logical step forward, but we are talking a 4.8 inch display (allegedly). This will make for an even more amazing experience than we have come to expect from Samsung phones. We love Samsung for the very fact that they like big screens, but 4.8 inches is more than we could ever have hoped for. That size, with a 16 million-colour display, leads us to believe that you will have one of the most attractive looking phones on the market.

Super Amoled Plus Display

Our of our favourite rumours is that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is apparently going to offer Super AMOLED Plus technology, so you’re basically talking about a screen that is going to be huge (we hope) and super bright and clear. This is, let’s be honest, much more attractive than an iPhone 4S for example. We know the iPhone 5 is coming out, but we’re pretty confident it won’t have a screen that is close to 5 inches in size. But hey, these are rumours.

Quad Core Processor

As regards power, we’re looking at possibly a Quad core processor, with clock speeds reaching above 1.4GHz. This is fast stuff, and there are plenty of people out there rumoring away at even faster CPU speeds. Some sites are stating we can expect 1.8GHz. This is a little fantastical for a phone (perhaps) but we wouldn’t say no.

All in all, we’re looking at according to the rumours an amzing phone that is going to look great, have a fantastic feel, and will probably be future proofed for the Android OS beyond Ice Cream Sandwich. But don’t take our word for it. Thankfully (Hopefully) the rumors will stop today and we will be able to get our hands on the real thing.
